Five ways to make your 2025 a great year!

Over New Years everyone seems to reflect on the year that has been and how the next one could be better. Here are a few simple steps to help make 2025 your best year!

  • Set realistic exercise goals for the year

There is no point in saying you’ll run a marathon if you currently don’t do any regular exercise. Start with small achievable goals like moving three times a week for thirty minutes then slowly add more intensity to your exercise or increase the number of times you exercise in a week. Exercise doesn’t always have to leave you puffed out and hurting. Lower intensity exercise like pilates, yoga and walking can be an excellent way of staying fit, strong and keeping your spine mobile. Exercising in a group can also be a good motivator – You could organise to meet a friend for a walk or game of tennis, join a social sports team or join a gym to do group exercise classes.

  • Get Adjusted

See your chiropractor to make sure your spine and nervous system is always functioning well!

Chiropractors are trained to assess your spine for areas that aren’t moving correctly or causing a structural shift. These areas can cause pain, muscle spasm, interference in your nervous system and affect your mobility. Adjustments help to restore the normal biomechanical structure of the spine, therefore allowing normal function of the nervous system. Chiropractors also don’t just work on the spine – we have extensive knowledge in all your joints – If you have any ankle, knee, elbow or shoulder issues make sure you discuss it with your Chiropractor.

  • Work/life balance

Getting a good work-life balance can be difficult. Stress can affect your nervous system and general health so creating balance in your life is very important. There can be busy periods in all areas of our life but making sure that one doesn’t outweigh the other is essential. With more people working from home than ever before the boundaries between work and home are becoming blurred. Set some firm boundaries to ensure that your work life doesn’t creep into your home life. Shut the study door at the end of the day or put your laptop or work phone away and don’t get it back out till the next morning. For those that work outside the home setting boundaries is just as important. Using your commute home as a time to process the day and switch off is a great way to ensure that once you’re home you are fully present.

  • Nourish your body

Eat a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, good fats and protein. These foods will provide essential vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that support nerve function and cellular health. Quality food helps to fuel your brain and body.

Hydration is really important to keeping your body healthy and happy! Make sure you drink plenty of water to hydrate your body.

  • Prioritise your mental health and manage your stress

Stress can come in many forms including mental, emotional and physical. Any of these forms of stress can put extra pressure on your nervous system and body. Reducing and managing your stress effectively can be very important for your overall health. There are some easy things you can do to reduce your stress- meditation, deep breathing, walking or journaling. Another way to reduce stress is making sure you have enough time off work over the year. Plan out your breaks now to make sure you don’t get burnt out. If you feel like you need extra support then seek the help of a psychologist, psychiatrist or counsellor. You can also access mental health support through your GP.

We look forward to helping you reach your goals in 2025!
