What is Atlas Orthogonal Chiropractic

Atlas Orthogonal is a gentle specific adjustment to correct the position of the first cervical vertebra – referred to as the atlas vertebra or C1.

Proper alignment improves normal biomechanics, and the relationship between the adjacent structures and the upper cervical spine.

Although the upper cervical chiropractic adjustment is a light force, the result can often be felt throughout the body.

A foundational component to the Atlas Orthogonal technique, is the use of digital x-rays. Specific radiographs are analysed in order to determine the exact degree of misalignment.

From this information, the vectors are calculated for the gentle correction. The instrument stylus lightly touches the Atlas (1st cervical vertebra) in order to make the appropriate adjustment.

The instrument allows the chiropractor to adjust the Atlas misalignment with a very high degree of precision while applying minimal physical pressure. This unique feature eliminates patient discomfort during treatment.

The Atlas Orthogonal precision instrument is designed to deliver a precise chiropractic adjustment based on the specific misalignment findings from your x-rays. The instrument delivers a percussion sound wave through a metal stylus with a light measured force.

Atlas Orthogonal vs. Traditional Chiropractic Adjustments

A common question that people ask is what is the difference between Atlas Orthogonal and general chiropractic adjustment?

The Atlas Orthogonal adjustment is very precise and very gentle without any of the popping, cracking, or twisting of the spine involved with general chiropractic manipulation.  Atlas Orthogonal chiropractic care is focused on providing a patient with a specific adjustment based on the patient’s x-ray analysis.

Atlas Orthogonal chiropractors take extremely precise x-rays of the head and neck to determine the severity and type of the spinal misalignment.  The Atlas Orthogonal chiropractor will then analyze the x-rays and determine a specific upper cervical correction vector that will aim to improve alignment through the upper cervical region.

After the initial evaluation your Atlas Orthogonal chiropractor will be able to estimate the number of corrections needed and the length of time necessary to consolidate structural improvements.

The most gentle and precise form of Chiropractic. No twisting, popping, or cracking. The Atlas Orthogonal Instrument allows Dr. Finn to provide individualised spinal corrections with objective and reproducible results.
